Random stuff.

Google has a special logo up today for the World Cup kickoff. Speaking of Google, I ordered one of those Google Dilbert mugs — I should be getting it soon!

Pick-up was so much fun last night. I think I’m getting more relaxed in net. I was chatting way more than I usually do — but I was playing worse. I had no concentration. But, that’s what pick-up is for, to have fun. I’ve started working on playing the puck more, and I’m doing ok at it. Out of about 8 or 9 tries last night, I only slightly screwed up twice. I’m gettin’ better. I can certainly tell that playing only once a week is having an effect on my game. I don’t feel as quick or as comfortable in net. But that’s ok too, because it’s the summer and I haven’t really taken a break in 4 years (except for a month here and there) so it’s kinda nice to trim it down a bit.

And warm weather is finally here on a weekend! I don’t believe it!

And just in case I don’t get time to post again today:

That’s it. I’m getting a new pair of tennis shoes. Maybe two. I need a pair that I can keep in my gym bag because apparently I can’t rely on myself to remember to put them in if I’m not wearing them. I skipped the gym yesterday, using the excuse that I was playing hockey so I didn’t need to go (I really should have gone anyway.), so I definitely have to go today. I went out to my car, grabbed my backpack and made the 2 1/2 minute walk to the gym. When I got to the dressing room I realized that in my desire to look a little more spiffy today, I didn’t wear my tennis shoes, and also neglected to make sure they went into my gym bag.

I also had another “ARGH” moment today, this morning at about 5:30, in fact. I half-woke to a thunderstorm sometime between 5 and 5:30 this morning, which was nice because I love thunderstorms and the sound of rain when I’m sleeping. I continued to snooze in a half-dreamlike state until there was a loud CRACK outside. I was startled, but still pretty drowsy and slightly unaware of whether I was dreaming or awake. My mind began to mix the storm sounds in with a nightmare — I was dreaming about code, and how I could change it to make the thunder less loud without making it go away completely. I’m crazy.

Patrick Roy is a clown.

OMG. I just about fell off the couch from laughing so hard when Patty Wah-boy floofed on that goal last night. And “floofed” is being extremely nice.

I’m very glad the Wings won. I paid particular attention to Hasek last night — I’m totally bewildered. I just don’t understand his style! He practically takes a catnap after making the initial save on a shot, and still manages to get a shutout. Wow. I just hope he can do it again in Game 7. 🙂

Why is it that sometime between 2:30 and 4 I get extremely drained…ugh. Maybe it’s because it’s cold in here and my body is tired of pumping blood to my mousing hand. My hand is like ice right now.

Go Leafs!

I haven’t posted in days! Is that some indication that I may have a real life going on, away from the computer? Sadly, no. I’ve spent nearly the last 4 days solid working on that new thingy I was talking about. Ok, not really “solid” but damn close. The good news is that I finally have it working. It should be up within the next few days, depending on how much time I get to work out the details.

Damn those Avs. Rat-bastard Forsberg. Grrr. The Wings will have to win in 7 games now.

And tonight is another big game for the Leafs. They must win tonight, or they’re out. All of the Carolina/TO games have been very close, so I expect tonight’s game will be the same, but please no overtime, my heart can’t take it!! If the Leafs win tonight, they’ll win the next one too and take the series, I’m sure of it.

Spam rant

There are two types of e-mail I can’t stand (other than spam).

The first is the one you get that tells you all about a horrible virus that will completely destroy your system if you open the attachment — and most of the time, the so-called “virus” isn’t even a virus. Some unsuspecting dimwit (see gullibility virus gets an e-mail in their inbox and decides he (or she!) should warn every single person in the address book. Now, let me tell you…this is the wrong thing to do. First, go to a reputable site like Symantec and do a search for the “virus”. Chances are, it’s just a hoax and the only harm it does is get your panties in a bunch…and everyone else the hoax gets sent to. Don’t forward it. Ever. Even if it isn’t a hoax. Instead, reply with this to the person that sent it to you in the first place.

Second, there is no way forwarding a single e-mail to X number of people will get you free stuff or free money. It just doesn’t happen! You would think after someone does it once and doesn’t get whatever-it-is, they’d figure it out. But, noooooo. If someone sends you one of these kinds of e-mails, reply with this. But then again, the sender is probably an idiot, and won’t get it.

Oh, there are three kinds.

I forgot about the kind that warns you about The Dangerous Situation that you should watch out for, and make sure you send it on to everyone you know! Not everyone realizes they should park in well-lit areas and not trust strange men. Right? (Sorry, no sarcastic response for this one, you’ll have to come up with your own.)

[Update: Send them to Glurge.]

Don’t send me stupid shit. I’ll have to kick your ass.
