I spent part of this afternoon watching misinformed McCain/Palin supporters on YouTube. I know they aren’t all like the people I saw but the fact that these people exist is sad.

It also shows how ignorant a lot of Americans are (again not every American but there are a lot – mostly due to the population of the country).

They keep sticking on the fact that Obama lived in Indonesia for a large chunk of his childhood. And Indonesia is predominatly Muslim (though the other common religions in Indonesia are Buddhism and Christian). And Muslim influences == terrorism.

My wife is from Indonesia and grew up in a Muslim family. That doesn’t make her a bad person or a terrorist. Stupid ignorant asses.

That’s exactly what I said to the person who sent me the email.

I was going to say that in my post, too, but decided against it because I don’t want to lend ANY credibility to the claim.

I also didn’t want to get into a debate about religion, but one of the reasons why I have a really hard time embracing any religion (that I’ve been introduced to) is the lack of tolerance for other people’s beliefs.

The ‘Obama is a Muslim’ stuff drives me nuts too, but the question everyone seems to forget to ask is: So what if he was? Would that make him somehow less capable of being President?
