My twitter app does this, but is much simpler. Just follow @FeedTwit from your twitter account to get started. Soon you will be getting your replies as SMS.

Thanks a lot for the tip! Here’s another neat replacement for IM… I used to use Google Talk on my BlackBerry for Twitter updates, but have been lacking as such.

* Sign up for the IM/Google Talk service on notify.me.
* Add a new RSS feed:
http://twitter.com/statuses/friends_timeline.rss
* In the URL, add your username and password to the URL: example is
http://ev98:RIDICULOUSPASSWORD@twitter.com/status/friends_timeline.rss
* Watch the updates fly in to your desktop IM client and BlackBerry!

I may have to Pipes the feed before passing it to notify.me (to reduce the number of updates I get) but so far it’s working quite well.

There’s a slightly simpler way to do it using Tweetbeep.com. It allows the same functionality as above, but in a single service.

There’s a bit of lag, but it’s essentially Google Alerts for Twitter.

That’s exactly what I did…See Step 1.

Also, you can’t use the /replies link because you need to be logged in to do that.

Great idea, I’d take it one step farther with using search.twitter.com and doing the search for @username and using that feed.

The default twitter @ tab only catches when the @ reply is first, the search will catch it anywhere.
