My dog is a traitor.

Porter gets a nice little walk every weekday afternoon by two of our local neighborhood kids. They’re brothers (twins) and they share the payment. Porter likes it because he gets to get out of the house for a little bit during the day and he loves kids. Well, they asked if Porter could stay at their house overnight yesterday (how cute!) so he has been with them since yesterday morning. One of the boys came over just a little while ago to see if Porter had any toys they could use to play with him…and Porter didn’t want to come in! He was visibly trying to avoid looking at the front door. Little traitor. He didn’t want to see his Angela! :(

I don’t blame him though. He is probably getting lots more attention there than he would here because he has two boys to play with, rather than sitting at my feet while I type away at the computer or watch TV. I hope that it just means he’ll really get along with the baby and they’ll be buddies. It still hurts my feelings, though.

Today is my last day of work! I’ll have to make sure I remember to bring home the GoalieCam and set it up here. I have most of my stuff from work that I’ll need here, I’ve brought a little bit home for the last two days. It’s amazing how much you collect when you don’t realize it.

Yo.

Well, I didn’t get to the smileys/auto-linking installation last night, but I did get any entries I could from Google’s cache and re-posted them. I hope to get to the rest of it today. I’ll make sure to back up my files ASAP this time, and back up at least once a week from now on. You’d think I’d have learned from the last time when Binary Blocks screwed me over. Oh well.

I have good news! Great news, actually. My boss surprised my co-worker and I with a trip to Toronto for the weekend. It’s actually kind of fitting because Wayde and I were just talking this weekend about visiting the HHOF sometime soon, likely after the baby is born and when Ray and Jen can come up. It looks like we’ll be going a bit sooner now! We’re staying at the Sheraton Centre Friday and Saturday, and many cool things are included in our weekend package. I’m so excited!

It will likely be our last “romantic getaway” before the baby is born, which is only a few weeks away now. Maybe, just maybe, we can head over to the ACC and buy some tickets off of a scalper. The Leafs play Carolina on Saturday and there’s a Toronto Rock game on Friday night. I guess we’ll see what happens.

I’m looking forward to a fun weekend! Is it Friday yet?

Merry Christmas!

We ended up staying home instead of going to Aunt Sharon and Uncle Raymond’s for dinner in London. We checked out the weather channel and road conditions on the internet for the highway between here and London and they weren’t so good. Pretty crappy, in fact. So we had KD for lunch and went out for Chinese (the only place open in Waterloo) for dinner.

Before dinner, we went to Waterloo Park to check out the light display. Apparently they put one on every year, but we always seem to miss it. It wasn’t as spectacular as I thought, but it was a nice walk and there were lots of people there with their kids and/or dogs. It was a little cold when the wind blowing, but it was such an enjoyable walk that I didn’t really notice until we were almost back to the car.

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas this year!

Um.

I’m starting to wonder why I got him X-Box live. Do you think I’ll ever see him again?

Where’d I go?

I haven’t had any updates in a few days. Sorry, I’m both lazy and busy, if that’s possible. I’ve been busy at work and when I get home I don’t spend much time on the computer.

I just updated the baby’s blog with a major update and pics. We are very very happy!

I’m eagerly awaiting the Christmas break. Very eagerly. I can’t wait to have some time to just sit around and vegetate! I’ve been working on the baby’s blanket like mad too. Plus it will give Wayde and I some quality time on MK: Deadly Alliance and NHL 2K3. Hehehe.

I keep forgetting to call a teammate and get the official schedule for my team. I never got one so I have no idea when their games are. I *miss* hockey so much, I just want to go to watch them play! I’ll have to write a note to myself to call tonight.

Boy, I’m boring, aren’t I?

TGIF!

I have several things I want to post today, but I also have a LOT to do at work as well, so I’ll be posting in spurts just to get it all out of my system. It’s funny, after days of struggling to find something interesting to post about (interesting to ME anyway ;) now I’m positively busting. It must be Friday.

I got my package from my mom finally — woohoo!! Early Christmas presents! My wonderful, wonderful mom sent me some maternity jeans, which I badly need, along with a very pretty blouse and more maternity pants to go with it. I was so geeked when I opened that package! I thought I was going to have to go out to the mall this weekend and buy some cheap sweats or something to hold me over for a while, but not anymore! Thanks Mom! Also, she sent me some pregnancy magazines, which is also very cool because I read just about anything I can get my hands on about pregnancy. Cuz I’m a geek. And did you guys see that she posted on my blog? My mom is cool. :)

Speaking of cool family members. Bro, if you are out there reading this — contact me!! I swear you must’ve fallen of the face of the earth because I haven’t heard from you in MONTHS.

I’m having a pretty darn good Friday so far. I woke up to the best feeling in the world — my honey cuddling up to me, and then snoozed for a little while longer. Then I got up and worked on the baby blanket while he played around with our new game (Sega’s NHL 2K3, which is very cool), then we were off to work and here I am. Speaking of which…I’ll get back to it now.

No really, I’m sane.

You didn’t think I was just gonna leave you with one silly link today, did ya? Well, I almost did, but I’ve done a lot today and I need a break, so I’m posting.

First, I just want to say thanks to Clive for pointing out that my hockey website looks like total crapola in Netscape. I was aware of it but, once again, my lazy side hasn’t done anything about it. But, Clive gets the credit for pointing out what 20,000 visitors (ok, I’m sure not all use Netscape, but you get my drift) did not. And not only that, but he took a look at my code and sent me an example of what would work better for cross-browser compatibility. Wow, that was extra nice! And I should thank Rick too because Clive got here from there. :)

I saw an accident on the way to work this morning — some dood ran into the back corner of an OPP (that’s like the State Police) van and totally smashed both vehicles. Whew. Talk about having a bad day! I’m glad I’m not that guy.

Baby update:
I’m 20 weeks preggo now, which means I’m halfway done cooking this little “bun in the oven”. (Does that mean the kid is half-baked? Haha!!) S/he is starting to kick with a little more force now…I have the distinct feeling that it’s not going to be cute for much longer, but I’m sure I still won’t mind.

This weekend I must, must, must go get some more comfy pants. Having just one pair of maternity pants that I can wear to work is just NOT cutting it.

Ok, one more thing. I’m setting up a weblog for the baby stuff. Cuz I can. Dammit. But I swear there will be no teddy bears, balloons, flowers, cutesy gag-you-with-it’s-sweetness stuff. It will remain plain and simplistic. Possibly even just a default MT template. So there.

Outta here.

Okay peeps, listen up. I’m outta here for the weekend. I’m going to be in Detroit (or “Detroy-it” as they say here in Canada) to see some friends for the weekend. I’ll be seeing Tracy and C.P. while we’re there, as well as taking in the Art Street Fair in Wyandotte, one of the many places I’ve lived. The only bummer about the weekend is that I left my digital camera in Erie, with my sister-in-law, but she’s going to have a baby ANY day now, so she’s more than welcome to use it. :)

I need to pack and then I’m outta here. I have less than an hour to get going. Have a good weekend!

Hiya.

I’m back from the long weekend! Did y’all miss me?

It was a great weekend. We just hung out with Ray and Jen all weekend, not doing much, so it was pretty relaxing. For some reason I sleep a whole lot better at other people’s houses than I do at home. I think our bed must just suck the big one. I didn’t sleep for shit last night, but all three days this weekend I didn’t roll out of bed until about 10am or later. Granted, I was staying up a but later, but not that much later.

Jen is about ready to pop! I’m surprised she didn’t go into labor while we were there. I accidentally left my digital camera there so I need to call them to tell them they better use it when the baby is born!

I have stuffs to do, so I better get to it, but I’ll be posting throughout the day today. I just wanted to let my wonderful readers know I’m back. :)

Wanna buy a hockey team for a coupla million on ebay? (Link via Thursday)

Late Post.

It was a nice looooong weekend. We managed to pack our entire weekend with events and activities, so much so that I’m currently suffering from a lack of sleep. :) Not too badly though, as long as I get some good sleep tonight. My only regret about the weekend is that I forgot my frickin camera. I coulda drove back to get it, but decided against it because we were already too far. *smacks forehead* I coulda had some great pics.

We left for Detriot Friday evening, right after Wayde got out of work. It was a pretty quick drive, it didn’t seem nearly as long as I remember it. But then, I drove it every weekend for about a year when Wayde and I were apart, so it got pretty boring after a while, especially since I was driving by myself. This time I had Wayde and Porter to keep me company.

We arrived at the Leedy’s sometime around midnight or so and chose to partake in the case of beer we brought down with us from the North. We bought some Red Cap Ale, which has released their beer in the old-style “stubbies”. It was a sort of novelty sipping on beer out of a bottle that looks like…well, a baby bottle. We stayed up pretty late talking to Greedy and the crew. He had some friends over too so Wayde and I got to meet some new people as well. I hit the hay quite a bit before Wayde did, but still somewhere around the 3am mark. Sheesh.

Wayde and I have a tendency to sleep later when we’re visiting other people. I have no idea why. It’s not necessarily because we stay up late because we stay up late at home and still don’t sleep in. I think it has something to do with being in a strange place, or maybe because we don’t want to wake up.

In any case, we got up around 10am, a full hour and a half to two hours later than our normal weekend wake-time. I’m not complaining. We then went out to breakfast with Cam, Greedy, and Greedy’s buddy, Hi (I’m not sure if I spelled that right, but how else do you spell “hi”?). We ate at a Coney Island in the heart of downriver Detroit. I sure do miss places like that.

After breakfast we called Chris and Tracy to plan our attack for the day. We headed over to their place to hang out for a while — it was the first time we’ve seen their new place. I must say, they have excellent taste. I only wish I had the motivation to correctly decorate our apartment. After hanging out, we headed down to Green Brain Comics (popups) in Dearborn, which is run by one of Wayde’s good buddies, Dan. I picked up two very cool looking comics called I Feel Sick. The girl on the cover looked spooky, depressing and morbid, all at the same time. I couldn’t help myself. Wayde and I also picked up a starter pack of HeroClix — we’re already hooked.

Then we headed over to Xochimilco’s (thanks for the link Tracy!) to meet Rachele and Jeremy for lunch. As usual, I couldn’t resist getting the chicken burritos… But, after only eating a small amount, I was stuffed. (Don’t worry, Wayde and I shared it later!)

Then we headed off towards downtown Detroit. On our way, we saw the flock-o-ho’s (damn I wish I had a picture!) and witnessed an arresting, complete with a 40oz Colt 45 on top of the car, a sure sign that we were in Detroit. We finally found a place to park near Comerica Park, not far from the church displaying the “Pray for the Tigers here!” sign. (Here’s a pic.)

Wayde and I had never been to the Hockeytown Cafe so we wanted to check out this “ice bar” we’d heard about. It’s flat surface of metal around the inside edge of the bar counter that’s highly refrigerated and forms frost — perfect for keeping your beverage cold!

After paying our jacked-up bill at the HC, we ventured outside to determine our next destination. Before we could take two steps, it began to rain with intermittent flashes of lightning. It was quite a site! Mesmerized, we watched as it begain to rain even harder, so we dashed across the street to Johnny Rocket’s. I couldn’t resist the 50’s style Vanilla shake and had ordered it before I even realized what I was doing. Tracy had one too, we were both in Vanilla Heaven.

We finally got in contact with our friends Joel and Leslie, who met us back at the Hockeytown Cafe about 40 minutes later. We drank some more, chatted a bit, and finally HC decided to close at about midnight. Yes, midnight. A bar was closing on a Saturday night at midnight. Crazy.

We wandered down the street and found a cozy bar next to the State Theater, appropriately named the State Bar. Tracy, CP, Wayde and I engaged in a friendly game of darts, even though the rinky-dink machine protested quite vehemently at times. We eventually lost interest because…well, we suck and it was taking too long.

Finally, we all parted ways and CP and Tracy drove us back to their place so I could get my car and drive Wayde and I back to the Leedy’s. They were expected to be back from Greedy’s motorcross race at about midnight, and we got in at about 2am. Greedy was just about to head off to bed, but decided to stay up a bit when we got in. I watched South Park for the first time in years…it’s just as funny as I remember it. Once again, I headed off to bed before Wayde, probably around 3am.

Sunday morning we woke at about 10am again and shuffled down the stairs. Deb went out on some errands and brought us back some bagels for breakfast, which I was very thankful for! Hungry Angela is not a nice person.

Cam, Wayde, Greedy and I paired off in a NHL 2000 mini-tournament as our breakfast settled. I paired off with Greedy for the first game, I played as Toronto and he played as, um, some other team, I forget who. I ended up losing in OT, the final score was 2-1. (One of my defensemen scored the first goal for him!) Then Cam and Wayde played as Detroit and Colorado, respectively, and their game went into OT as well. Double OT, in fact. Wayde ended up winning, I think 3-2.

We needed to get a few things done before we headed out for the drive back home, so we said our goodbyes and got on the road. We were supposed to go over to Joel and Leslie’s place, but we didn’t have much time left and didn’t want to be driving back late, especially considering our lack of sleep for the weekend so far.

We stopped by Big Ben’s Comics to check out their HeroClix selection and to find out how Big Ben was doing — apparently Wayde knows him from “back in the day”. I got a kick-ass Green Lantern t-shirt, but they were out of HeroClix booster packs. They did have many, many single figures for sale. Oh, and Ben’s doing great. Then we went back to Green Brain Comics to get Dan’s last starter pack of HeroClix.

After dining on some delicious Thai food, which we were absolutely craving, there aren’t any Thai places here in Waterloo, we stopped by a discount Red Wings shop to pick up some shirts. I bought a t-shirt for myself, two for my friend’s kids and a pin for her. She’s a local Wings fan, so I’m sure she’ll appreciate it.

We finally headed out for our drive back. Thankfully, it was unevenful, save for the lessons in HeroClix rules along the way.
