Yes, it has been a year of changes for me, and still more to come. More than a year of changes, actually. Back in January I posted about my not-so-good 2006. As most of us know, most change ends up being for the better, and my last year or so is no exception.
I promise to post a huge all-telling update soon, but first I’m switching hosts. I’m heading over to Pair Networks – I’m sick and tired of my email and website being intermittently available.
I finally found some time to sit down and breathe a bit and actually post to my blog. I’ve been working all hours, trying to fit my life around work, and getting little sleep. I’m actually supposed to be working right now, but I figured I needed to step back for a bit and then tackle it with a fresh mind.
I’m really excited to be working on hockey.com as it combines the two passions in my life – hockey and the internet. I can’t really say anything here other than it’s going to kick ass (and the design will be 1000% better than what’s there now). It had better kick ass because I need and like my job!
Now if I can just get someone to pay me to play hockey too…
VCP#6463 as of August 1st. Yay!
I ended up taking the test twice. The first time I did horribly, I think I got a 56%. At least 70% is required to pass. I took it again a little over a week later, and lots and lots of studying later, and scored a 76%.
Thanks, TestKing.
While the practice tests didn’t have ALL the questions, they certainly helped in a very, very big way.
Brucie and I have been sick all week. Monday, he and I went to the doctor and she basically told us that we’d be okay in a few days and that it was probably just a virus. She gave us some drops for his eyes. Tuesday and Wednesday were the worst days for B. He had a fever off and on both days. Tylenol seemed to bring it down, but it would go back up once the Tylenol started to wear off. Yesterday he seemed a bit better. He slept from 6pm the night before to 9am that morning, and I had to wake him up from a sound sleep. He was less sleepy and didn’t have a fever until the end of the day. I was going to take him to the doctor yesterday morning, but decided against it because it seemed like he was getting better. I thought for sure he would be okay by today.
This morning he woke up at 6:30 crying and I couldn’t console him. I didn’t know what to do. Eventually I got him calmed down when i gavbe him some water, but he was still pretty whiney. I called the sitter to let her know I wouldn’t be bringing him again today, and headed off to the urgent care clinic.
He has ear infections in both ears. The poor little guy! I feel so bad for not taking him to the doctor yesterday. I called in the morning but they couldn’t fit us in until 4:30 and since I thought he would be okay, I didn’t take that appointment. And our sitter had double ear infections this week too and she was telling me how horrible it is and how painful it is, so now that I know that’s what he has, I feel really bad. I should have taken him yesterday, and since I didn’t, I prolonged his pain.
Now he has antibiotics and I bought some Motrin for him. He finally just went to sleep a little bit ago. I sure hope he gets better soon.
I haven’t updated in how long? Holy crap. I think about posting every day, but don’t seem to get around to it.
Things have been crazy around here lately. Especially this week. Bruce is sick. I’m sick. The babysitter is sick. Therefore I’ve been off but taking care of a baby and working from home. So I guess I’m not really “off”.
My team’s end-of-the-year party was on Friday. Saturday afternoon I started to feel kinda off and Bruce was being whiney. Saturday night we went to a party at the co-op we used to live in and took Bruce. He liked it, particularly the dancing. He’s got a little girlfriend there.
By the time we left, I was feeling pretty crappy. By Sunday morning I was definitely sick and Bruce wasn’t himself. Monday we both went to the doctor, but Tuesday we both got worse. Wayde stayed home from work to take care of us. Today, he’s still sick and I’m better but not 100%.
So the last couple of days have been pretty rough.
Tonight, I was sitting here on the couch with B and my pager started going off. Every two minutes. I logged in to check the servers and couldn’t stay logged in and got booted, all the while B is starting to freak because I’m not holding him anymore. So I call the office, leave a VM for the only person that might be doing something to the server, and manage to grab B and get some stuff together. I’m just on my way out the door when the guy calls. Thank God because I really, really did not want to be in at work with Bruce being sick and me trying to fix something. Anyway, it all got resolved in about half an hour with one hand on the baby, phone between my shoulder and ear, and one hand on the keyboard. Now that’s talent, ladies and gents.
It’s true.
I found a gray hair this morning. I promptly pulled it out. It’s kinda funny because I was joking with Wayde last night telling him that I’m getting old and he’s going to have to trade me in for a newer, younger model.
Uh, it’s not so funny now.
I decided to actually update my blog, woohoo! Things are finally settling down here. The move is done and I’ve started work full time. Hockey season is under way too, and I’ve been playing a LOT of hockey. It’s so nice to be back into it. My performance level doesn’t seem to be where it should be, but then I could be imagining myslf being better in previous years. I’ll pick it up, I’m sure.
I’ve added my blogrolls into my menu on the left. I’ve left them out for so long because, well, it’s so long. I’ll be going through and cleaning it out. There are a few links I’d like to remove anyway. I’ve also added the blogroll from Bruce’s site.
I have so much to say that I don’t even know what to say.
I briefly met our new neighbors last week when Bruce and I were on our way out the door in the morning. They have a little boy too, although he looks to be around four or so.
It’s so awesome having all this space in the house. I love it. My computer is in the rec room, which is long enough to accomodate the couch and home theater, a futon in front of the fireplace, and my desk in a corner, with space left over. It’s not crowded in here at all. This is easily the coziest room, and biggest room, in the house. It’s basically the reason why we bought it.
The kitchen is awesome too, nice and big with lots of cabinets…and a dishwasher. OMG, you have no idea how much I appreciate that.
Well, we’re in the middle of moving now. I’m packing stuff up while Brucie is at the sitters during the day and we have a truck rented for Friday and Saturday to move everything. Wayde’s parents are coming Friday (or maybe Thursday, I’m not sure) to help out with the move. It’s really nice of them to do so! Wayde also has some friends from work coming on Saturday to help out with the big stuff. I have two rec hockey games Saturday night, so I’ll miss some of the “moving party” we’re having after the truck gets returned at 4pm.
So, yeah, I’ve been pretty damn busy lately.
I got the keys to our new house yesterday! I made a trip with some stuff packed in my car last night, our fridge and stove will be delivered today, and Wayde will be setting up as much of the stereo as he can today too.
I’m so excited!
I’m going to take the camera today and take pics, hopefully I can post them this weekend!
Well, now. Lots of things have been going on and I’m trying to settle back into a routine, which includes getting back on track with my Blog. Of course, as soon as I get it all worked out, we’ll be moving and it will upset my schedule again.
My mom was here for a week and a half — it was great having her here! Not having any family around, I have become used to not having help with Bruce, but having my Mom here made a world of difference! We went to the cottage for a few days, then hung around here for a few days and then she had to go back. She had a great time with B, and he was pretty cranky the day after she left, so I’m sure he was missing her too.
While she was here we bought a house. Yeah, that quickly. We were half-heartedly looking, just trying to get a feel for the market, when the perfect house popped up. It was vacant already so we felt we had to jump at the chance. It’s going to be pretty tight for us over the next few months, but it will be worth it in the end.
It’s a three bedroom, two bath backsplit (I think they call it a multi-level in the States? I’m not sure) with a huge rec room, nice big eat-in kitchen, formal dining room (which I’ll probably make into something else), and a living room. Not to mention lots of basement storage too and a cedar deck. We’re so excited!
