Winter hockey rules.

Wayde and I took a half-day off today to go see the new LOTR movie. It turns out it’s not playing anywhere within an hour of us, so we decided to take advantage of the gorgeous day to go skate at the local outdoor rink. Now, I’ve been wanting to do this since I moved to Ontario. I’ve never played hockey outside and thought that it would just be the coolest thing ever. And it was. It was so, so, so awesome. And the rink is really close to us, within walking distance.

We got there and it was covered in snow, so we helped shovel a bit off. Then we put our skates on and when I went out on the ice I immediately decided I needed to put my pads on. It just feels too weird skating in my goalie skates without my pads.

Here are some pics from the afternoon:

Matrix: Reloaded

We went to see Matrix: Reloaded last night. I have to say it, I was disappointed. The opening scene was pretty cool, but the rest of it was pretty silly. It seemed like the entire movie was made up of scenes patched together — there was no flow to the story, character development was sorely lacking, and even the fight scenes were a little too drawn out for me. Oh, and the ending really pissed me off too, but I won’t give anything away if you’re thinking of wasting your money on it.

Superhero movies!

To add to the myriad of superhero movies coming out over the next couple of years, there’s going to be a Batman vs. Superman movie too. And what makes it especially cool is that the script is written by the guy that did Se7en and directed by the guy that did The Perfect Storm. I’m not a big fan of The Perfect Storm, I thought the special effects were a little cheesy, but it was still a good movie.

Here are some other movies from the comic universe that are coming out:

Daredevil (2003) — with Ben Affleck as DD!! *swoon*
The Hulk (2003) — directed by Ang Lee!
X2 (2003) — aka X-Men 2
Batman: Year One (2003)

I also heard that there may be a Wonder Woman movie coming out, possibly with Lucy Lawless, Chyna from the WWF, or most recently Sandra Bullock as Princess Diana, but that’s just a rumor. There’s more on the Wonder Woman movie if you’re interested.

More rumors:

Catwoman (2004)
Fantastic Four (2003 – 04)
Iron Man (2004)
Watchmen (2004+)
